Just a regular(ish) family of four who decided to stop dreaming about travel and actually go do it.
I’m Sean, my partner is Tania, and we’ve got two little mentalists: Atticus (7) and Aurelia (5). We’re currently in the midst of prepping for our biggest leap yet; a year(ish) of slow travel through South and Central America, starting August 2025. It’s exciting, terrifying, and totally not funded by a secret trust fund or our own big savings…I wish!
The “We’ll travel one day” era.
Like a lot of couples, we talked about travelling the world when we first got together. We had big plans, big wanderlust energy… and then, well, life.
Kids arrived (they’re amazing), bills arrived (less amazing), and the dream quietly got packed away somewhere between 9-to-5 jobs, nursery runs, and Netflix evenings.
I spent most of my 20s thinking, “I’ll travel one day.” I kept finding reasons not to: no time, no money, not the right phase of life. Sound familiar? Honestly, I was just scared to actually commit.
The Wake-up Moment.
By early 2024, we started having the same conversation over and over:
“What if we just… went?”
No perfect timing, no perfect budget. Just us, figuring it out.
We booked a three-week trip to Montenegro as a test run, and it was everything we’d hoped for: the kids thrived, we felt more connected, and the dream finally felt real, not just something we talked about while scrolling Instagram.
So we did the thing…
By the end of 2024, we decided we’re going to do this.
No turning back. No real plan B.
Just a decision to do something we’ve always wanted, to spend a year as a family, learning as we go, getting lost (a lot), finding epic wild water swimming spots and living outside our comfort zones.
We had a few hoops to jump through and a lot of waiting for results on our son’s illness, if it went one way, well we wouldn’t have been ok to travel. We got good news back in May 2025.
Right now, we’re deep in prep mode: decluttering, downsizing, learning a new language (or trying to), and figuring out how to travel long-term without blowing the budget.
We don’t have it all figured out. We just said yes before we were ready, and kept going even when it was scary.
The Not so influencer part.
We’re not influencers. We’re not here to tell you how to live or pretend this is all glamorous. There will be meltdowns, missed buses, and questionable bathroom stops. But we are here to show that it’s possible, even with kids, even with limited savings, even if you’re figuring it all out as you go.
We’re sharing our journey to:
Inspire other families to chase their version of “more”
Document the chaos for our future selves
Keep it real, funny, and useful
What you won’t see (Much)
You won’t see a lot of full-face photos of our kids (They usually be wearing actual or digital glasses). That’s intentional.
We want to protect their privacy and give them the choice to decide how much of themselves they share with the world as they grow up. You’ll still see plenty of glimpses into our family life, just not their entire digital footprint.
Why we’re here…
One day we’ll run a little art/cafe by the sea… but for now, it’s packing cubes and Google Docs.
This space is for:
Dads are curious about long-term or slow travel
Parents wondering if they’ve missed their chance (you haven’t)
People who want to feel less alone while chasing something different
So, whether you’re here for the practical tips, the behind-the-scenes chaos, or just to see if we survive this thing, welcome.
Grab a coffee, have a scroll, and feel free to reach out.
We’re just a message (or flight delay) away.
Hi, we’re TravelVentureFour a not-so-ordinary family of four getting ready to swap routines for backpacks and Netflix nights for jungle hikes. We’re Sean, Tania, Atticus (7), and Aurelia (5), and in August 2025, we’re heading off on a year(ish) of slow travel through South and Central America. No trust funds here, just big dreams, small backpacks, and a whole lot of figuring it out as we go. Join us as we prep, learn, laugh, and probably get lost… a lot.
