Quick tips for booking in Medellín

If it’s your first time in Medellín, don’t overthink the location too much. Just stick to El Poblado or Laureles and you’ll make things a lot easier for yourself. They’re the areas most people stay for a reason. From there you can plan your Medellin Itinerary, i deal time would be 3 days in Medellin.

One thing that catches people off guard is that not every hotel has air conditioning. It’s not always a dealbreaker, but it’s worth checking before you book, especially if you’re travelling with kids.

Space also matters more than you think. A standard hotel room can feel tight pretty quickly, so it’s usually worth looking for something a bit bigger or even an apartment-style setup.

And honestly, don’t just go for the cheapest option. In Medellín, location makes a much bigger difference than saving a small amount on price.

Still not sure where to stay?

If you just want to keep things simple, this is what we’d do.

We’d go with Hotel Du Parc if you want the easiest, most straightforward stay. It’s central, comfortable, and just works without much effort.

If space is more important, then Sites Hotel Medellin is a better fit. It feels more like an apartment, which makes a big difference with kids.

And if you’re trying to keep costs down, Ibis Medellín is a solid option. Nothing fancy, but reliable and in a good area.

Book your accommodation

When we’re booking places to stay, we usually keep it pretty simple and its usually based on the things to do in Medellin that sways our decision.

Booking.com is what we use most for hotels, especially for shorter stays where flexibility matters. It’s easy, there are loads of options, and you can usually find something that fits without digging too much.

For longer stays, we’ll sometimes switch to Airbnb. Having more space, a kitchen, and somewhere that feels a bit more like home makes a big difference, especially with kids.
